My Favorite Albums vol.4

『Cheap Thrills / Janis Joplin (Big Brother & The Holding Company)』

The debut of Janis Joplin, the greatest female vocalist in rock history.

This album had a strong impact on me.

When I was 17, I quit high school, left home, and lived in a small apartment without a bath.

The summer of that year was extremely hot. Of course there is no air conditioning in the room. I was sweating and listening to this album all summer nights.

Janis's "Summertime" shook my soul. She hitted my head with a bang.www

Janis may be the first to teach me the "the real soul of real rock".

The first song "Combination of the two". An exciting show begins.

Janis's husky voice on blues rock sound. You'll be numb! www

The aforementioned "Summertime" is the third song. Whenever I listen to this song, I remember the 17-year-old summer. The crying guitar is irresistible, too!

Recently, I also like Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan's "Summertime".

The following 4th song "Piece of my heart". I also love this song. The sense of unity between Janis and the band is wonderful. A masterpiece.

The last song "Ball and Chain". Janis's bluesy singing is hot, hot, hot!

The band on this album seems to have been fired because of lack of playing ability. The second and third albums she made with good musicians are also masterpieces, but I like this rough first album because I feel a fresh soul.

This is the album I listened to the most.

Listening now reminds me of my passionate heart when I was a teenager.

This is definitely a great rock album.

If you are interested in old rock, please listen first!
